Move In Day!
Good morning! The truck is ready to unload! I’m ready to get this house feeling like a home!
Oh, what a day it has been! Warren attempted to position the truck in the driveway and this was when our moving truck got stuck in the Florida sand! With the truck tires sinking deeper into the ground with each attempt to move forward, we found ourselves feeling a mix of frustration and humor at the situation. After a lot of shoveling, wooden planks, and teamwork, we were NOT able to free the truck….time to call a tow truck. After the tow truck arrived, it was able to get the truck back on sturdy ground with ease.
Car Trouble
After that “exciting” setback, I was sent on a mission to pick up trash cans from Wal-Mart. My stepdaughter joined me and we headed out. We were about 15 minutes into our journey and my car decided to break down on us. The engine sputtered before coming to a complete stop on the side of the road. I could not get the car to turn over, the car did not show any symptoms of engine failure prior to today. This unexpected setback felt like the day was cursed. Did I mention, Warren’s car was being worked on at the dealership an hour away…. I managed to arrange for a tow truck (Deja vu?) to bring the car back to the homestead. While we waited for the tow truck, multiple times locals stopped to ask if we needed help, offering to provide their expertise and even bringing us some cold water to drink while we waited. This experience reaffirmed my belief that moving out of the city was the right choice. It dawned on me that living in a community where strangers are so willing to lend a helping hand is exactly where I want to plant my roots and call home.
While moving day wasn’t as fun as we hoped, looking back, unexpected obstacles are just part of the adventure! Plus, it's moments like these that make us truly appreciate the sense of community that surrounds us out here!
